how to help
The PFC serves individuals across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts during some of their most challenging life events. The CAPFC seeks to leverage our membership of volunteers to produce insightful datasets, increase the Court’s visibility among decision-makers, and ultimately seek legislative change and to join the leaders of the Probate and Family Court to further access to justice. We are not naïve to the scope of our work or the challenges that lie ahead. With this top-of-mind, we are seeking committed individuals across the Commonwealth to join our endeavor who will stay the course, contribute to our mission, and bring their vital skills to benefit the Court. Most work is conducted in subcommittees, which are:
- Access to Justice Subcommittee on Rules: Focused on time standards, court user rights/responsibilities, uniformity of practice, trainings, and coordination among divisions.
- Access to Justice Subcommittee on Judges: Focused on survey of judiciary, vacancies and new appointments, judicial augmentation needs, and feedback from judges.
- Access to Justice Subcommittee on Court Operations: Focused on trial court personnel, virtual registry, alternative dispute resolution, magistrate sessions, monitoring cases, and court operations.
- Media & Publication Subcommittee: Focused on outgoing communications from the CAPFC.
- Outreach & Feedback Subcommittee: Focused on incoming communications, including surveys, data collection, and coordination among other groups.
- Legislative Drafting Subcommittee: Focused on drafting legislation, court rules, and procedures, as needed.
- Governance & Membership Subcommittee: Focused on membership and operations of the CAPFC.
